Plan a fun-packed weekend around 2101

Wherever you are in postcode 2101, be it North Narrabeen, Narrabeen, Elanora Heights, Ingleside or Warriewood, there is always something fun to do on the weekend.

Of course, how you spend your time is your choice but here are some ideas for the perfect weekend without straying too far from home.

The perfect weekend in postcode 2101

The Upper Northern Beaches have no shortage of coffee shops to kick off your perfect weekend.

Enjoy a beachside Breakfast at Black Honey in Narrabeen or stop in at Three Beans in Warriewood Square (on your way to Kmart… and we will see you there).

Flower Power in Warriewood has a lovely coffee shop and small playground for children, or you can sip while they play up the road at the Flying Fox Cafe in Winnererremy Bay Park.

Some local walks

What better way to get the blood flowing after a hearty breakfast than to take a walk through some stunning scenery?

Warriewood Wetlands are a dream for birdwatchers and nature lovers. You will see ducks and moorhens, and if you are lucky, you might spot a kingfisher or a spoonbill.

At just over eight and a half kilometers around and with lots of options for shorter walks, the Narrabeen Lagoon Trail is another perfect place to work off a big breakfast. Enjoy the stunning blue waters and keep your eyes out for wildlife.

Ingleside has an excellent walk for more experienced hikers with its Chiltern Trail. Do the six kilometre walk or head off on some of the challenging detours (just remember to let people know where you are going and when they can expect you to come back).

Time to hit the water

The water is still warm… make the most of it!

The simplest water activity on the Northern beaches is to go for a swim at any one of the many beaches. From secluded Warriewood Beach to the ocean pool at the Mouth of Narrabeen Lagoon, there is a swimming spot to suit anyone.

Narrabeen Lagoon is perfect for kayaking, and the multiple kayak hire places in the area know this. Prokayaks are one of the best hire places, and you can even book tours and lessons with experienced guides.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Gaining popularity in recent years, paddleboarding is also an awesome activity to enjoy on Narrabeen Lagoon. Prokayaka also hires out paddleboards, or you can also try Narrabeen Boat Hire.

Parks and playgrounds

If you have a family, then there are no shortages of parks and playgrounds for the kids on your Northern Beaches weekends.

A perennial favourite with the locals, the Rocket Park in Warriewood is a great place for the little ones to run around and enjoy the play equipment. There are plenty of places for adults to sit and grass for picnics. Be warned, though; it does get hot there in the summer months.

If you’re up in Elanora Heights, Cooleena Reserve has a lovely little playground and heaps of room for little ones to run around. Walk the trails or pack a picnic for a perfect bush lunch.

Not only is Berry Reserve Playground a beautiful, well-kept, fenced playground, but it is also right next to the strip in Narrabeen. Have a play and then head straight to the Tramshed Cafe for lunch or any of the other top-notch cafes nearby.

Where to eat?

After a long day of fun, you will be looking for a feast. Have fish and chips by the water at Oceans Narrabeen, enjoy mexican-style dining at California Republic in Elanora Heights or have a look around for any of the dozens of wonderful little restaurants scattered across the Northern Beaches.

Movie night

If you’re still looking for something to do, head to United Cinemas Warriewood to catch the latest films on the big screen. The well-kept and family-owned cinema has top-quality screens and sound providing a big screen experience to match any other. They even do birthday parties, and you can have an excellent Italian meal before or after at Rocco’s Bar and Gusto downstairs from the cinema.

Kids love to visit the small arcade downstairs for a play before or after the movie.
